Like any good project, this blog is a constant work in process. I’m continuously refining the content, the focus, and the design. Nearly four years ago I launched this site on WordPress.org and have since gone through multiple themes and designs, but I have never done a complete redesign. Today, I’d like to introduce ASotREG 2.0.
I want to thank Ben Walthall who took my countless emails/calls and made my vision a reality. The overall design goal was to create a site that’s clean and elegant with intuitive functionality. Here are a few aspects of the site that I’m really excited about:
Content Organization
With nearly 400 posts on the site, organizing the content was a top priority. I want the site to be a road-map for college students and young professionals to begin and grow their careers. I’ve organized the career-related posts by “Learn”, “Earn”, and “Give Back”, which reflect the three stages of a career. Further, I organized posts by ‘Career Sectors’ to help students navigate the various real estate sub-sectors. Check out the navigation drop-down menu to see the various categories.
Mobile/Tablet Display
With content consumption moving to smart phones and tablets it was important to have the site adjust to the screen. Go ahead, check out how the site appears on the iPhone and iPad.
Design Customization
Previous iterations of the site have been filled with various plug-ins, but I was never able to do any real design customization. The site lacked consistency. With ASotREG 2.0 I made sure that each sidebar widget was custom formatted and designed to match the look and feel of the entire site.
Feedback
I’ve added a plug-in that allows users to easily submit their feedback. This site is for you, I want to know what you think and how I can make this site great for the users.
*Keep in mind that this is a soft launch. There will be plenty of tweaks and updates as I dig around and get feedback.
